Avalanche Awareness for Skiers and Snowboarders


This one day introduction is for keen confident skiers looking to make themselves safer skiing off piste. We aim to introduce you to transceiver search techniques, how avalanches are caused and how to spot the signs
and safe travel techniques in avalanche terrain.

The day will be base around the ski area with a bit of walking and skiing outside the pisted zone.

Bring along any avalanche safety equipment you have or we can supply it.

Relating weather forecast to avalanche danger

Relating weather forecast to the map

Relating avalanche report to the map and weather

Transceiver search training

Conducting a search and rescue procedure

Digging an snow profile pit
